Ranjana Jha accused Udit Narayan of usurping her property and abusing her rights
Narayan claimed Ranjana Jha of trying to extract money from him, according to the Navbharat Times. A lawsuit had previously been filed against him before the Bihar Women’s Commission, but at that point, a settlement had been made between the parties.
The singer used to give Ranjana Rs 15,000 a month, which was raised to Rs 25,000 in 2021, according to the report. In addition, he had given his first wife a house valued at Rs 1 crore and land for cultivation. The Bihar Women’s Commission later discovered that Udit had given Ranjana land and jewellery valued at Rs 25 lakh, which she subsequently sold.
Ranjana, through her lawyer, expressed her desire to live with Udit due to her advancing age and declining health. She emphasized her wish to spend the remainder of her life with her husband.
After the hearing, Ranjana spoke to the media, accusing the singer of neglecting her and withholding Rs 18 lakh from the sale of their land. She further revealed that whenever she visits Mumbai, hired thugs are sent to intimidate her.
Udit married Ranjana in 1984, but it is alleged that he abandoned her after rising to fame and even refused to recognize her as his wife, while Ranjana continued to fight for her rights.
In 2006, Ranjana sought assistance from the Women’s Commission, after which Udit promised to provide her with a flat and other support. However, he later reneged on his commitment.
